Meet Local Artist Karl Hester!

Karl draws, cooks and loves life. When he was young, growing up in the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek area of Michigan he found inner peace by spending time on his bikes and reading Buddhist texts, but more importantly in his drawing. When it came time to find a way to support himself, he looked at what made him happy and decided on the culinary arts. He has been a professional Chef by trade for most of his entire adult life and finds it to be a wonderful way of expression of his art making beautiful eatables that are impermanent, hence art and Buddhism combined. He draws as a form of meditation and relaxation when he gets out of work. He has lived all over the US, San Francisco, LA, Chicago, Portland Maine, Boston, NYC, New Haven CT, Washington DC, Saint Tomas VI. The Adirondacks and now in the Berkshires, applying his passions to his cooking, searching for peace, meaning and expressing it all in his drawing.
